Research and Planning for my Video


     First out I want to talk about the structure of the video, because structure decides how something will sound, look, and feel, and the amount of information it gives. First of all, structure means to "construct or arrange according to a plan; give a pattern or organization to", meaning it's going to construct this whole video together according to a pattern or organization. A normal video structure is

  • Hook
  • Intro
  • Content
  • Call to action
These are simple steps used to make a structure template in a video, but I won't be using the same template to do mine. I'm going to use a process of adaptation where the video structure adapts to the content I'm making. Apart from the structure, the music is also a really important factor in the video, as it shows a lot of emotion and feeling of a video, and you can use it to manipulate the viewer to feel certain things, at certain moments in your video, It is a good factor to have at your disposal. For example, this video is my introduction video where I'll be talking about myself and my character, During my lifetime, I can use music to show happy moments in my life, sad moments in my life, and cheery to natural music when talking about some normal details.

Pictures are also a really important characteristic in videos as this is what the viewer will be seeing and processing through their minds during the duration of the video. Pictures also control music, whenever there is a picture it controls what type of music there will be, ranging from how it enters, volume, ear side, etc. Again this is a video about me, so there will be ranging music, and photos depending on what I decide to do in my video, or where I want to present myself. Editing is also a really important factor in videos as it shows what is going to be displayed and how it is going to be displayed. Combining all these together makes a video, where there will be voice, emotion, entertainment, information, and a viewer. Video structure again is really important and I want to use it to my best aptitude in the upcoming video.

          The start of any great journey begins with preparation for the journey itself. The journey we prepare for requires a couple steps of preparation in order to succeed in the later steps of the Production journey we face, We had already gone over the basics structures of a production, and now we'll go over the basic parts needed for production. First of all, we need footage, without it there is no video, and there is no journey to travel, The footage is the overall basis of production, where it is added to, changed, or manipulated. The Final Genre Decision

The Genre we have chosen is Comedy as it is the most open and fun to work with the conventions are easy to break as it is supposed to be broken as comedy is a free world and when used with other genres it tells a great story. Because of that, we will combine drama and comedy to tell a multi-color story being a mature story but also funny to not be all drama as the conventions in a drama is important to tell the story whereas if it is a comedy with drama parts it break the conventions of comedy. A story that is both comedy and has drama elements can be difficult to execute well but when done right it can be a great thing to watch. One inspiration we will have is the Barbie movie as it cleverly uses both the drama and comedy genres to tell its amazing story. So we will hide the serious story beets in the comedy but not lower the importance of the plot point which is the hard part of taking Drama elements into a Comedy.
